This website provides an update on Westfield’s vision for the redevelopment of land to the north of Westfield London. We will be investing over £1 billion in creating a new residential quarter and expanding the retail and leisure facilities provided at Westfield London.
In April 2014, the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham granted Westfield outline planning consent to build 1,347 new homes, new leisure facilities and shops including a new John Lewis department store. The application was approved by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, in May 2014 who said:
"Westfield has had a transformational impact on Shepherds Bush and White City, kickstarting widespread social and economic regeneration.
This expansion will create thousands of much-needed new homes and jobs and ensure that the area remains one of West London’s leading shopping destinations for many years to come."
Westfield has operated in the United Kingdom since 2000. Today Westfield’s portfolio has two shopping centres – Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City. Westfield has one of the United Kingdom’s most outstanding shopping centre portfolios with its range of existing London centres and future projects.
Since entering the UK market in 2000, Westfield has opened three major shopping centre developments. The first, Westfield Derby, opened in 2007 and immediately catapulted the city more than 20 places up the retail rankings. The following year, Westfield opened the iconic Westfield London in west London which was recently ranked the number one shopping centre in the UK by Javelin Group. The centre is 100% let and has firmly established itself on the London retail landscape.
In 2011, Westfield opened Westfield Stratford City, the prestigious gateway to the London 2012 Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. With over 350 shops, 70 places to eat and drink, cinema, bowling, hotels and offices, Westfield Stratford City is Europe’s largest urban shopping centre.
In late November 2013, Westfield submitted an updated planning application to the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham which was approved in April 2014 We intend to start construction of the first phase in 2014 with the new department store and shops open in time for Christmas 2017.
Westfield is currently seeking a residential partner to help bring forward the new homes across the site. Further, more detailed applications will need to be submitted before construction of the new homes begins. Altogether we expect the development will be built over the next 15 years.
